Paul VanDenBosch, president
Paul VanDenBosch is president of Nationwide Private Client.
VanDenBosch has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, most recently as regional vice president for Nationwide’s Southwestern Regional Operations in Scottsdale, Arizona. Prior to this position, he held positions within Nationwide inclusive of officer and associate vice president. He started within the insurance industry as an exclusive agent.
As Nationwide Private Client continues to grow and establish its national footprint, Paul’s industry expertise and ability to build strong relationships will help foster future success for this core business unit.
Paul has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Northern Iowa and currently serves on the board of Phoenix’s UMOM organization. He lives in Carefree, AZ with his wife, Mary. He enjoys skiing, hiking, golf and travel.
Amber Wayne, operations leader
Amber Wayne is operations leader at Nationwide Private Client, responsible for Underwriting Governance, Customer Experience, Product & Pricing, Risk Solutions and Sales Operations.
With more than 25 years in the insurance industry, Amber has a proven track record of strategic planning, managing financial results and working with multiple business units and departments. Most recently associate vice president of Finance, she is known for her collaborative and inclusive leadership.
Originally from Independence, Oregon, Amber obtained her undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and her Masters from Arizona State. She is currently treasurer and a member of the board for Free Arts of Arizona for Abused Children. She enjoys traveling, biking, playing games and spending time with her two dogs.
Henry Hoffer, claims executive
Henry Hoffer is the Claims Executive, responsible for the achievement and oversight of a best in class claims experience and the direction and management of our claims staff. Henry is accountable for the strategy, execution and ongoing improvement of our claims and Risk Solutions departments. Additionally, he represents Private Client in the local community, on industry committees and sponsors oversight of special projects.
Henry has more than three decades of insurance and claims experience. He joined the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies in 1985, where he served in a variety of claims-related leadership roles over his 22-year tenure. While at Chubb, he was responsible for multi-line claims marketing and building and overseeing their call center. In 2007, the Balboa Insurance Group hired Henry as their senior vice president of central claims operations.
He joined the Nationwide Insurance family in 2010 as associate vice president of the Commercial Property, Farm and Agribusiness Technical Claims office. In that role, he was tasked with establishing best practices, creating formal guidelines and performance metrics, improving the claims organizational structure and training programs.
Henry earned his Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral and Social Sciences from the University of Maryland and earned the Society of Claims Law Associate designation. He and his wife Rosalie recently celebrated 32 years together and have two children, Samantha and Jonathan. Samantha followed in her father’s footsteps, working for Titan Insurance in Scottsdale, AZ, and Jonathan is currently a junior in the Economics department at New York University. Henry and Rosalie reside in Scottsdale with their dog Rusty, where they enjoy hiking, biking, traveling and reading.
Donald Soss, underwriting executive
Donald "Don" Soss is the Underwriting executive. Arizona resident, Don brings over 30 years of experience and underwriting expertise to our organization. He is a national leader in underwriting for personal collections, including fine art, jewelry and other valuable possessions.
His career began in human resources with Allstate Insurance Company before he transitioned to underwriting at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. In June 1994, Don joined Fireman's Fund Insurance Company where he served in various underwriting and executive roles. Most recently, Don was vice president of private wealth and chief underwriting officer at Fireman’s Fund.
Don graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication. He holds his Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) from the Insurance Institute of America. In addition, Don has completed 1, 5 and 7 courses of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. Don served as an executive board member for the Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) from 2008-2012 and was a member of the California Earthquake Authority (CEA) advisory panel from 2002-2006. Don and his wife live in Phoenix, Ariz., where they enjoy the outdoors and spending time with their children and three cats.
Angela Wolterstorff, customer experience executive
Angela Wolterstorff is the Customer Experience Executive, responsible for leading the customer service team (including agent and client service for billing, transaction processing, claims first notice of loss, CBI platform support) - and the operations team (program management, CBI platform design, development and production support). Angela also oversees the internal associate experience, including human resources (in partnership with the human resources team), and systems training support.
Before joining Nationwide, Angela held leadership roles at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company for nearly ten years, including roles as Vice President of customer service operations, Assistant Vice President of customer service transformation, and Human Resources Director for personal lines. Her career began with Bristol-Myers Squibb as a sales staffing and leadership development specialist, then as a human resources consultant for Arthur Andersen (2000-2002) and Deloitte (2002-2004), where she advised clients in various industries - including insurance and financial services, biotechnology, entertainment, publishing and pharmaceuticals.
Angela earned her Bachelor of Arts from Murray State University and a Masters in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She and her husband, Ryan, live in Denver, CO with their children Ellery and Ryker, and two dogs. Angela is an avid volleyball player, music lover and outdoor enthusiast.
Jim Mayzer, national product management executive
Jim Mayzer is national product management executive for Nationwide Private Client, leading the implementation of new products targeting the affluent and high net worth marketplace. He has responsibility for Private Client product design and for developing and executing growth and profitability strategies through partnership with regional sales and underwriting executives. Nationwide Private Client products are made available through a limited distribution model and include homeowner, personal auto, excess liability and personal collections.
Prior to joining Nationwide, Jim was director of product management for Rockford Mutual Insurance Company, leading a personal and commercial lines product team and acting as ERM committee chairman.
Jim has gained extensive insurance product experience since 1999, serving in personal and commercial lines product management roles and with companies including Zurich North America, Kingsway Financial Group, Allstate Insurance Company and Safeway Insurance Group.
Jim is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a degree in economics. He leverages his proven mathematical and quantitative skills to lead his team in creating competitive, financial, trending and pricing models while analyzing how to best position Nationwide Private Client products in the affluent / high net worth marketplace.
